Neil Merton Steiner

July 2, 1926 ~ October 8, 2017 (age 91)

Neil M. Steiner, age 91, of Mapleton, UT. passed away October 8, 2017, born July 2, 1926 in Blanding, UT to Ernest and Millie Black Steiner. February 8, 1947, Neil and Neola Burrows were married. Their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, for time and all eternity.  Neola was the love of his life and he was totally devoted to his family and extended families.

Neil was the 5th of 5 brothers who all served in World War II at the same time, all returning home.  Neil was extremely gifted in his craft as a master brick mason for 35 years, earning the coveted award of Brick Mason of the year.  He constructed the outstandingly beautiful Mosaic on the Arts and Science building on the campus of Utah State University, Logan, UT. After having to retire from brick masonry due to health he went to work for Mapelton City, working in maintenance dept.  Then Mapleton City put him through the Police Academy.  He became Chief of Police.  Neil and Neola owned Steiner’s House of Flowers in Mapleton and Springville, UT. for 30 years.  He was a member and president of the Mapelton J.C.s. He was the best “pancake flipper” for family reunions and outings.  He was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully until serious illness set in.  He was a Provo Temple worker for 7 years.  

Neil is survived by his wife, of 71 years Neola Steiner, daughters, Kaye S. Yellowman of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Jeanne S. Coe, Errie, PA; Gregory Neil Steiner, Mapelton, UT. Ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Proceeding him in death are, daughters, Linda S. Meiltine and Marion S. Kennedy. Father and mother, four brothers and one sister.  Also Carl and Amy Burrows Henderson mother and father in-law.

Viewings will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Mapleton Wheeler Mortuary, 82 W. 400 N., Mapleton, UT. from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, 12-12:45 p.m. prior to the services at 1 p.m. in the Mapleton White LDS Church on Maple St, and Center St. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with Military rites, by the American Legion.  Condolences may be sent at www.wheelermortuaries.com.
