Donald Arthur Larsen, 88, of Springville, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2017, after a battle with squamous cell cancer.
Don was born on March 17, 1929 in Park City, Utah to Arthur and Fay Larsen. He served an honorable, full-time mission in Nova Scotia/Maine for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1952-1954. On January 31, 1957, he married Geniel Felix in the Salt Lake City Temple. Don and Geniel lived in Sacramento, California, where he worked for the State of California as a Civil Engineer. After retiring in 1992, he and Geniel moved to Springville, Utah. He had a special love for this country and the Constitution and often reflected on how blessed he was to live in such a wonderful nation. His passion for politics led him to serve as a Springville Legislative Chairman for several years. Don also enjoyed teaching hunters safety in the local community.
His family remembers his love for freedom, picnics, angel food cake, hunting, fishing, Snicker bars and watching Lawrence Welk. Although he will be missed here on earth…we are excited for him to be reunited with his family – especially his mother who died when he was 12.
Don is survived by his wife, Geniel of 60 years. They have six children: Kyle (Joni) Larsen, Kelton (Lisa) Larsen, Camille (Brian) Watts, Bradley (Irene) Larsen, Dawnell (Jeff) Robbins and Kelsey Larsen. They were also blessed with 19 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and sisters, his son Kelton Larsen, and grandson Christopher Larsen.
A viewing will be held Friday, August 18th, at Wheeler Mortuary from 6-8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 19th, at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to thank Sandra and Terri from CNS Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the LDS missionary fund in his memory.
