Emilio Mendoza Lopez was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on March 3, 1941. He was the third oldest of six children, consisting of three boys and three girls. Emilio was the third oldest.
His father was a shoe maker, and his mother was a full-time, “stay at home” wife and mother.
Emilio was a very happy child by nature. He entered the work force at the very early age of ten years old. He worked with his father, and learned his father’s trade.
As an adult, Emilio became a radio technician which suited him well as he could literally fix anything!
Emilio met, fell in love and married Buenaventura Mora. Together they had ten children, having lost their eleventh child during pregnancy.
Emilio and Buenaventura later became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and were sealed together as a family in the Mexico City Temple.
Emilio had a passion for painting, he loved basketball, boxing and most of all, he loved food. Emilio was a very loving, tender and sensitive person. He loved his family dearly and was always very affectionate and demonstrative with his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and with all with whom he came in contact with. Emilio was a true people person.
Emilio died peacefully at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah on May 28, 2019 surrounded by loving family members.
He is survived by his wife, Buenaventura, his children David, Roberto, Adriana, Rosa, Jaime, Luisa, Nohemi, America, Esmeralda and Marisol, 27 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 1:00pm at the LDS Chapel located at 761 East 400 North in Spanish Fork, UT. There will be a viewing held at the Chapel from 11:45 to 12:45 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
