Jack Hyde Jones was born in Long Beach, California on February 8, 1931.
He passed away quietly in his home of 54 years in Springville, Utah at the age of 88 on June 21, 2019.
His parents were William Arthur Jones and Bernice Cornelia Hyde. His father passed away suddenly from a heart attack, his mother passed away from pneumonia following gal bladder surgery, and his little brother Ernest Lynn Jones died as an infant from pneumonia. None of his grandchildren had the privilege of meeting his parents because they passed before he married Jane Condie on July 5, 1956, in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple.
He attended BYU for a couple of years and was president of his fraternity. Jack loved to fish and hunt. He was in a band that played at local dances and he played the trumpet and the piano. Jack also sang in a men’s quartet for many years and had a beautiful tenor voice. He served in the navy for a brief time until he had the left-lower-lobe of his lung removed. He lived in Payson, Utah when he got married, but moved to Springville where he lived for 53 years.
Jack served an honorable LDS Mission in the Texas, Galveston mission. He also served a mission with his beloved wife in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania mission for 24 months where he served as first counselor to the mission president. Jack was hard working, loved trucks, and he loved the Savior. He worked all the days of his life to provide a comfortable home for his family. Jack also loved spending time with one of his best friends, Tom Kimball.
Jack is survived by his spouse of 63 years, Jane Condie Jones and his brother, Duane Arthur Jones. He was the father of five children; Arthur Kim Jones, Kathryn Jones Pierce, Corie Jones, Richard Jack Jones, and Tracy Ann Jones Spencer. He had 16 grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
