William Robert “Bob” Boone, 84, of Mapleton, Utah passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. He was born March 20, 1936 in Toledo, Oregon to Raymond and Verla Massie Boone. He married his sweetheart, Stephanie Ann Priddy on June 4, 1960 in Portland, Oregon. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Oakland California Temple on January 24, 1975.
Right after graduating high school he enlisted in the US Navy and served four years traveling all over the Pacific during the Korean War. During this time he even witnessed a detonation of an atomic bomb while at sea.
Bob was great in sales selling wine and frozen foods to large grocery stores and small shops all over the San Francisco Bay Area. He retired from the California Highway Patrol after working for 28 years as a dedicated patrolman, accident investigator, and commercial officer at the scales in Livermore. He was president of the CHP squad club organizing events for children and families of the Highway Patrol community. Even though he generally worked the graveyard shift, he found time to run a part-time landscaping business that kept him busy. He also loved his job as a security officer at the Oakland Temple. He was always working and a great provider.
Bob had many hobbies including woodworking, scuba diving, camping, golfing, swimming and especially fishing. Never could fish enough! The fish were scared when he came around. But better yet, all those who were lucky enough to be him on a fishing trip, enjoyed his humor, stories and quick wit.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings including organization presidencies, executive secretary to the bishop, and a faithful ministering brother. His favorite was teaching children in Primary and Sunday School. And also enjoyed serving as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America.
Bob was a devoted and faithful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife Stevie, his four children: Dottie (Mike), Aaron, Alyssa (James), and Rachel; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; brother Larry, Homer, Alaska; sister Betty Lundin, Bellingham, Washington. And was so loved by his many nieces and nephews.
